RENOVATING BRICK & MORTAR STORES
To attract new and recurring customers to their stores, Batteries Plus is implementing high-tech digital displays, updated signage with visual infographics, and installing new counters and fixtures. The interior transformation was to update the overall look and feel of the stores, while also catering the layout and signage to the consumer’s perspective. As a result, this makes the stores more shoppable, thus creating further visibility to products and services.
In addition to these improvements, they have also allowed franchise owners to enhance the inside of their stores by adding customer-seating areas, new uniforms for staff, wood grain slat walls, and LED paneling. “Customers are impressed by the layout. Device repair customers are definitely taking advantage of the seating area as well as walk-in customers,” said Franchise owner, Charlie Norton.
Batteries Plus has relied on key vendors to help with funding for Project Volt and received over $1.6 million in support. Additionally, the cost to franchise partners to participate in the renovation was $4,800. Yet, Batteries Plus continued to help their franchise partners through this renovation process by giving credits of $3,000. Since the beginning of the rebrand, nearly 600 Batteries Plus stores have been renovated and have outperformed non-rebranded stores by 4%.
REDESIGNING THE WEBSITE
In addition to upgrading the stores, Batteries Plus has also redesigned their website to enhance the user experience. The new website design is more mobile-friendly, allowing for easier navigation on a mobile device. This update will also allow customers to place orders online and pick up at their nearest store.
