As businesses around the world begin to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, Batteries Plus Franchise has sustained business and continues to grow throughout the pandemic and beyond.
Halfway through 2021, our retail franchise has already surpassed previously set records for new signed franchise agreements and openings — setting the brand up for continued success.
The Batteries Plus Franchise is Pushing Through the Pandemic
Last year, Batteries Plus signed 20 franchise agreements to bring on 30 new locations to its network of over 700 specialty retail stores. Of these agreements, four franchisees signed on to open six additional stores, while 16 new franchisees signed to open 24. These new agreements included markets like Phoenix, Ariz., Sacramento, Calif. and Colorado Springs, Colo.
“It’s no secret that last year brought a lot of challenges, but along with these challenges came plenty of opportunities,” said Scott Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Batteries Plus. “Early last year, our stores were deemed essential businesses which allowed them to remain open and continue to meet customer needs at a time when health and safety were a top priority. The stability of our business model quickly became apparent and entrepreneurs across the country took notice.”
New Year, New Records
As 2021 began, the Batteries Plus team had high hopes for the year ahead. As the second quarter came to an end, the resilient franchise brand boasted 52 newly signed agreements. For context, Batteries Plus had already passed the entirety of last year’s signings by mid-April of this year, setting a new record for the brand.
The number of signed agreements wasn’t the only record Batteries Plus set this year. The retail franchise also inked the largest multi-until deal in company history. This agreement, centered around the Raleigh-Durham market for eight new units, will continue to expand the brand’s footprint throughout the area.
Along with rapid growth comes developments on the corporate team as well. For example, Joe Malmuth, former Managing Director of Franchise Development, was promoted to Vice President of Franchise Development and Relations.
Growing Alongside Our Franchisees
As a franchisor, Batteries Plus takes pride in helping franchisees flourish and grow. As market conditions continue to fluctuate throughout the pandemic recovery period, the brand has taken proactive steps to spare franchisees some of the most daunting obstacles a business owner can face, such as inventory shortages.
We meet with our domestic vendors weekly and work with agencies overseas in order to build and maintain the vendor relationships that are key to staying ahead of these shortages. Our supply chain and product management teams also collaborate to proactively order products before we become low on stock. These efforts help take the burden off our franchisees so they can focus on other important in-store operations, like providing exceptional customer service.
It’s All About Transparency
One reason Batteries Plus was able to sign so many deals so quickly is because of the brand’s honest approach to business. Before a franchisee signs an agreement, Batteries Plus provides candidates with data that projects territory performance details, including store traffic information. This kind of transparency goes a long way to building strong relationships and setting Batteries Plus owners up for success.
Franchisees appreciate the fact that there’s always a member of the corporate team they can speak to with any questions or concerns they have. One of the most important parts of being a franchisor is building a strong relationship with owners nationwide.
What Lies Ahead For Batteries Plus Franchise
So far, Batteries Plus has opened the doors to eight new stores during the first half of 2021. As the franchise continues to grow, it’s on pace to surpass 75 franchise signings by the end of this year.
